Drug description
Anesthetic Agent ALZANE
Alzane is an injection solution containing atipamezole hydrochloride. Atipamezole is an α2-antagonist that selectively blocks α2-receptors, causing noradrenaline release and reversing the effects of medetomidine (Dorben).
After intramuscular administration, it is rapidly absorbed, reaching maximum concentration within 10–15 minutes. Sedative effects are reversed within 5–10 minutes.
Administered intramuscularly once, 15–60 minutes after medetomidine or dexmedetomidine administration. For dogs: the dose of Alzane in mL equals the dose of Dorben in mL. For cats: the dose of Alzane equals half the administered dose of Dorben.
Do not use in pregnant or lactating animals, or in animals with hepatic, renal, or cardiac disease. Store at 15°C–25°C. Shelf life: 2 years.
