Drug description
Anesthetic Agent DORBEN
Dorben is an injection solution containing medetomidine hydrochloride. Medetomidine belongs to the α2-agonist group, inhibiting nerve impulse transmission in adrenergic synapses, causing CNS depression and an elevated pain threshold.
After intramuscular administration, it is rapidly absorbed; maximum plasma concentration is reached within 15–20 minutes. Half-life is 1.2 hours in dogs and 1.5 hours in cats. The effect is dose-dependent and lasts 30–180 minutes.
Administered IM or IV to dogs for sedation and analgesia at 0.1–0.8 mL/10 kg; for premedication — 0.1–0.4 mL/10 kg. Cats receive IM or SC administration for sedation at 0.05–0.15 mL/kg, and for anesthesia at 0.08 mL/kg.
Effects can be reversed by administration of Alzane (Alzan). Store at 15°C–25°C. Shelf life: 2 years.
