Drug description
Antiemetic Agent CERENIA
Cerenia is an injection solution containing maropitant citrate. Maropitant is a neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor antagonist that inhibits the binding of Substance P in the CNS. It is effective for vomiting of both central and peripheral origin.
After subcutaneous administration, the product is rapidly absorbed, with maximum plasma concentration reached within 45 minutes. Bioavailability is 90%.
Cerenia is administered subcutaneously to dogs and cats at 1 mg/kg (1 mL per 10 kg) once daily for no more than 5 consecutive days. Used in the complex treatment of parvoviral enteritis. Administration of the chilled product reduces pain at the injection site.
Not recommended for pregnant or lactating animals. Store at 2°C–25°C. Shelf life: 3 years.
