Drug description
CIDR
CIDR is a T-shaped silicone elastomer capsule with a polypropylene cord containing 1.94 g progesterone. After insertion into the vagina, progesterone gradually enters the bloodstream, inhibiting the hypothalamic-pituitary system. After removal, progesterone levels decrease within 4–6 hours, triggering follicle maturation and ovulation.
Inserted into the vagina of cows or heifers using an applicator for 7–12 days. Animals come into estrus 36–96 hours after removal (most within 72 hours). For anestrus: 7 days + 400 IU chorionic gonadotropin after removal. Meat and milk — no restrictions. Storage: 2–30°C, 24 months. Packed in laminated pouches of 10 units.
