Drug description
Anesthetic Agent TELAZOL
Telazol is a lyophilized powder for solution preparation. Each mL of reconstituted solution contains 50 mg tiletamine (as tiletamine hydrochloride) and 50 mg zolazepam (as zolazepam hydrochloride). Tiletamine is a dissociative anesthetic with pronounced analgesic action. Zolazepam is a benzodiazepine tranquilizer that potentiates the anesthetic effect of tiletamine.
In cats, onset of action is 1.5–6 min after IM injection, with recovery time of 1–1.5 hours. In dogs, onset is 7–8 minutes, with recovery up to 4 hours.
Administered by deep intramuscular injection. Dogs: clinical examination — 7–10 mg/kg; minor surgery — 10–13 mg/kg; extensive surgery — up to 25 mg/kg. Cats: examination — 10–12 mg/kg; minor surgery — 10.5–12.5 mg/kg; extensive surgery — 14–16 mg/kg.
Contraindicated in pancreatic disease, cardiovascular/respiratory disorders, and hypertension. Not for use in pregnant animals or during caesarean section. Store at 15°C–30°C. Shelf life: 2 years.
