Drug description
NSAID TROCOXIL
Trocoxil is an NSAID in tablet form containing mavacoxib: 20 mg, 30 mg, 75 mg, or 95 mg per tablet. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties.
Mavacoxib predominantly inhibits cyclooxygenase-2, blocking the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins. It reaches therapeutic concentration within 1 hour, with peak plasma concentration at 17 hours after administration.
Administered orally to dogs from 12 months of age at 2 mg/kg. A second dose is given after 2 weeks, then monthly thereafter. The treatment course must not exceed 7 doses (6.5 months).
Contraindications: age under 12 months and/or body weight less than 3 kg, gastrointestinal ulcers, severe renal insufficiency. Store at 0°C–30°C. Shelf life: 36 months.
